Spilling The Beans

Supa Beans was born out of the idea to provide a quick and affordable protein source for Zambians in their daily diet to help alleviate levels of malnutrition in the country

Beans are a widely consumed food in Zambia and contains essential minerals and nutrients for the body (protein, high carbohydrate, magnesium, copper, phosphorous, and manganese). However, bean consumption presents one problem: the long cooking time. Normal beans typically take three hours to cook, with many Zambians using charcoal as their main energy source.

With this in mind, the Supa Beans team developed a unique process to produce dehydrated beans which only require 10 minutes to cook, thus drastically reducing cooking times and in turn, helping to reduce energy consumption in households.
